Of this amount, $38 million is earmarked to help homeowners upgrade their septic systems.<\/p>\n<p>In the Quebec budget tabled on March 22, 2022, the Quebec tax credit for upgrading septic systems was extended for another 5 years &#8211; until 2027. This tax credit represents refundable tax assistance equal to 20% of eligible expenses in excess of $2,500. The maximum assistance is $5,500.<\/p>\n<p>Did you know that between 2017 and 2022, only 16,000 households took advantage of this government subsidy? The Ministry of the Environment estimates that there are 1 million independent septic systems in Quebec.
